What are PAAC’D® Fasteners?

PAAC’D® stands for Pre-Applied Adhesive Coated. These fasteners have a threadlocker or thread sealant professionally applied before they reach your assembly operation. The coating arrives dry to the touch and ready for installation, eliminating the need to manually apply liquid adhesive during assembly.

What are the benefits of pre-applied threadlockers?

Pre-applied threadlockers can help improve application consistency, reduce assembly time, minimize mess, and reduce the possibility of operator error. Because the coating is applied in a controlled process, manufacturers receive fasteners that are ready to use when they arrive.

What is the difference between a threadlocker and a thread sealant?

Threadlockers are designed primarily to secure threaded fasteners and help prevent loosening caused by vibration and other forces. Thread sealants help seal threaded connections against leakage while also providing resistance to vibration. The best option depends on the requirements of your assembly.

How do I know which LOCTITE® coating is right for my application?

Choosing a coating depends on factors such as the fastener material, required strength, operating temperature, exposure to chemicals or pressure, vibration, and whether the assembly will eventually need to be disassembled. The Coating House can review your application requirements and help determine an appropriate pre-applied coating. Contact us if you have a specific question and our experts will help you.

Can The Coating House supply the fasteners as well as coat them?

Yes. In addition to pre-applied adhesive coating services, The Coating House supplies uncoated and custom fasteners. Combining sourcing and coating can help manufacturers consolidate suppliers and simplify their fastener supply chain.

What types of fasteners does The Coating House supply?

The Coating House offers a variety of fasteners and industrial hardware, including machine screws, cap screws, metric fasteners, shoulder screws, MS/NAS fasteners, set screws, captive screws and custom fasteners.

Are PAAC’D® fasteners suitable for high-vibration applications?

Yes, depending on the coating selected. Pre-applied threadlockers and anti-vibration thread sealants are available for applications where vibration could otherwise contribute to fastener loosening. The specific coating should be selected based on the assembly’s performance requirements.

Can pre-applied coatings withstand high temperatures?

Different LOCTITE® pre-applied products have different operating temperature ranges. The appropriate product should be selected based on the temperatures and other environmental conditions the assembled component will encounter.

Can pre-applied thread sealants help prevent leaks?

Yes. LOCTITE® DRI thread sealants are designed to create a resilient seal on straight or tapered threads, helping prevent leakage while providing resistance to vibration and environmental conditions.

Does The Coating House handle small-volume orders?

The Coating House works with customers on a range of fastener and coating requirements. If you have a low-volume or specialized application, contact the team with your part specifications and quantities to determine the best processing option.

What information should I provide when requesting a quote?

Providing as much information as possible can help streamline the quoting process. Useful details include the fastener or part number, dimensions, material, quantity, applicable specifications, desired coating, and any performance requirements such as temperature, vibration, chemical exposure, or sealing needs.

Can The Coating House help if I don't know which coating I need?

Yes. You don’t necessarily need to specify a particular LOCTITE® product before contacting The Coating House. Our team can review factors such as material compatibility, temperature, chemical or pressure exposure, vibration, and serviceability requirements to help identify an appropriate solution.
