The Coating House Awarded MMAP Grant to Expand Capabilities, Create Jobs, and Better Serve Manufacturers
Company Expansion
The Coating House is proud to announce that it has been awarded funding through the Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MMAP), a significant investment that will help the company expand its capabilities, modernize operations, and strengthen support for customers across commercial and defense industries.
The grant is part of a statewide initiative through the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM), which awarded $4.8 million through the newly updated Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MMAP) to support the growth, modernization, and competitiveness of 20 small- and medium-sized manufacturers throughout Massachusetts.
For The Coating House, this award represents much more than new equipment—it represents an exciting opportunity for long-term growth.
Investing in the Future of Manufacturing
As a fastener supplier and soon-to-be manufacturer of specialty fasteners for commercial and industrial customers, The Coating House is constantly looking for ways to improve quality, increase efficiency, and provide greater value to its customers.
“The MMAP grant is a game changer for TCH,” said Kim Casineau, President of The Coating House. “It allows us to scale our business and expand our capabilities to serve our customers in a broader sense.”
Funding from the grant will allow The Coating House to purchase:
- Nylon patch application machines
- A CNC lathe
- A 3D printer
- Other necessary equipment for shop expansion
These investments will bring critical manufacturing capabilities in-house while replacing outdated equipment, allowing the company to improve turnaround times, enhance quality control, and expand the services available to customers.
Expanding Capabilities for Customers
Each piece of new equipment plays an important role in the company’s future.
The new nylon patch application equipment will expand The Coating House’s ability to provide specialized fastening solutions with greater efficiency and flexibility.
The addition of a CNC lathe will allow the company to manufacture select screws for customers serving both the Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial markets. By focusing on a targeted range of fasteners, The Coating House will become a valuable new supplier within the supply chain while offering highly competitive lead times.
The new 3D printer will support operations by producing custom fixtures and tooling that improve manufacturing processes throughout the facility, reducing setup time and increasing production efficiency.
Together, these additions position The Coating House to provide more comprehensive manufacturing solutions while continuing to deliver the quality and reliability customers expect.
Creating New Opportunities for Employees
Beyond equipment upgrades, the MMAP grant is also an investment in people.
The company plans to create opportunities for existing employees to develop new technical skills in areas such as:
- CNC machining
- Nylon patch application
- Digital manufacturing processes
- Advanced production technologies
As these new capabilities come online, The Coating House also expects to add new full-time positions while creating higher-skilled, higher-paying manufacturing careers.
One of the primary goals of the MMAP program is to help Massachusetts manufacturers create quality jobs that strengthen both local businesses and the state’s economy. The Coating House is excited to contribute to that mission while continuing to invest in its team.
Building a Smarter, More Efficient Operation
The MMAP grant is just one part of a broader modernization effort currently underway.
In addition to the new manufacturing equipment, The Coating House is implementing a new ERP system to improve visibility, streamline operations, and better manage production workflows.
The company is also investing in a new automated bagging machine that will support customers requesting assembled hardware kits. This equipment will significantly reduce manual labor, improve consistency, and increase overall production capacity.
Combined, these improvements will help digitize shop floor operations, increase productivity, and allow The Coating House to respond even more effectively to customer needs.
Looking Ahead
The Coating House has always been committed to helping manufacturers solve fastening challenges with reliable coating technologies, engineering expertise, and responsive customer service. The MMAP grant provides an exciting opportunity to build upon that foundation while expanding what the company can offer.
“We are excited for all of what is coming our way,” Casineau said. “These investments allow us to grow our capabilities, develop our team, and continue providing innovative manufacturing solutions for our customers.”
As these new technologies and processes are implemented, customers can expect expanded services, faster lead times, enhanced manufacturing capabilities, and the same commitment to quality that has defined The Coating House for decades.
The future is bright, and The Coating House is ready to continue growing alongside the customers and industries it proudly serves.
